GET INVOLVED!

There are lots of ways that you can get involved in this campaign – at your workplace, and in your local area.

At your workplace:-

If you are not a member of the union, join today – the more of us that speak with one voice, the louder we are and the harder it is for the government to ignore us.  To join the ASU, call us on 1300 855 570 or download a membership form now!

If you are a member of the ASU, then there are lots of things that you can do.  You can….

Ø      Talk about the campaign with your workmates and in your networks;

Ø      Get together with other interested members at your workplace and talk about things you might do to raise awareness with your colleagues;

Ø      Set up a campaign noticeboard at your workplace for information, posters and updates

Ø      Make sure that you have an ASU Workplace Delegate at your workplace so that when the campaign hots up, you know that you are getting up to date information from the ASU office.  If there is no ASU Delegate at your worksite, call us on 1300 855 570 to find out how you can become a Union Delegate!;

Ø      Make sure that you have an elected OH&S rep at your workplace.  If you do not have an elected OH&S rep for your work group, then call us on 1300 855 570 to talk about your rights;

Ø      Delegate a member to go along to the Local Organising Network so that everyone at the workplace knows what is happening;

Ø      Ask to have the campaign included as a standing item on the agenda for team/staff meetings so that everyone understands how important this is;

Ø      Check to see if your employer has signed the Statement of Support for the campaign.  If not, then approach them to do so.  If you are not sure how to go about raising this with your management team, then call us on 1300 855 570 for some tips!;

Ø      If you are thinking of leaving the sector because of the poor wages and conditions, then write and tell us about this so that we can show the size of the problem;

Ø      Join up to Facebook and become a friend of the ASU!
