Lisa Darmanin – Assistant Branch Secretary

Lisa Darmanin began her association with the ASU as a member and delegate, originating from the social and community services division in 1998.  In 2000, after participation in an active ASU Women’s Committee and the Anna Stewart Memorial Project she undertook the ACTU Organising Works program.  Over the past seven years with the ASU, Lisa has worked as an organiser across various divisions, as well as working in the Queensland Branch for a short time. She is a co-founder of the Vic Young Unionist Network. In 2004 she also had the privilege of representing Australia in Bangkok at an international meeting of young women workers.  In 2006, she was seconded to the Victorian Trades Hall Council, where she coordinated the Your Rights at Work campaign in Victoria. In early 2007, Lisa returned to the Branch, co-ordinating the Social and Community Services Division, among other things.  In May 2007, Lisa was elected Assistant Branch Secretary.

Wil Stracke – Campaign Coordinator

Before coming to the ASU in 2004, Wil worked as a lawyer at Slater & Gordon, where she became an Associate in 2003.  Before that, amongst other things she coordinated various community arts projects in the ‘not for profit’ sector whilst studying drama at the VCA and then doing her Masters in Education.  Wil is the co-founder and convenor of Union Pride – a LGBTI network of unionists around Victoria.  Occasionally Wil takes time away from coordinating the ‘Respect the Workers!’ campaign to go back to performing but she finds the rewards of working with ASU members far too rewarding to stay away for long!

Julie Kun – Organiser

Julie Kun is an Industrial Organiser and has been working at the ASU for the past three years. Prior to that she was an  active ASU delegate, ASU Branch executive member and social worker working in organisations such as the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Care Connect. Julie is a single mother with a three year old child and as such has a very good handle on juggling the competing needs of work and family.

Clancy Moore - Organiser

With experience of working with NGOs overseas and a family full of social workers and activists, advocacy and campaigning come naturally for Clancy. He enjoys the challenge of developing activism amongst ASU members and has a particular interest in getting regional members involved in the campaign.

Grace Contessa – Campaign admin coordination

Grace has worked at the ASU for so long, she cannot remember when she started!  In the 20 odd years since she arrived, she has worked across all of our industries and she says that working on the ‘Respect the Workers!’ campaign is one of the most rewarding experiences she has had in her time here at the ASU.
