Parking officers rally against Melbourne City Council

Melbourne City Council parking officers and the ASU held a rally on May 18 to publicly state they have no confidence in council management and HR over a failure to provide them with a safe workplace and adequately deal with bullying and harassment.

ASU members have directed the ASU to organise a meeting with Melbourne City Council's CEO Dr Kathy Alexander to reach a solution on what has become a serious issue for workers.

"All we want is to sit down and work out a way to fix the problem of bullying within the Council and out on the streets, but we as a union have not been given a chance to do that," said ASU Assistant Secretary Igor Grattan.

"The CEO found the time to talk to the media before today's rally, so why can't Dr Alexander find the time to talk to us?"
