Respect The Workers, Sustain The Services regional round up print page

The ASU ‘Respect the Workers, Sustain the Services’ campaign was officially launched at the Bendigo Civic Gardens on April 19th. More than 100 workers, clients, family and friends turned out in pristine sunshine to show their support for the campaign (pictures below).

Specific workforce issues around recruitment, retention and stress and burnout are at the forefront of the campaign, and it is for this reason that the campaign launch was well reported by WIN TV news and Regional ABC radio.

The launch had a very local feel about it, with workers from the region giving fantastic speeches on each of the campaign priorities – better wages, portable long service leave, paid parental leave and safer workplaces.

Workers from St Lukes Anglicare, Bendigo Community Health, E.A.S.E, Annie North, Loddon Mallee Housing and other agencies were in attendance. Some Local Council delegates from Bendigo City Council and Campaspe Shire Council were also there in solidarity.
