ASU Infrastructure Division Delegates’ Conference print page

The annual ASU Infrastructure Division Delegates’ Conference will be held on Wednesday, 27th August, 2008, at the Jasper Hotel (Room 8, 489 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, near the Victoria Market) from 9:30am – 4:00 pm (registration from 8:45am).

The Conference is specifically designed for Delegates employed in the Energy, Information Technology, Transport, Shipping, Travel, Fire Services and Water companies and sets out our priorities and policy direction for the next 12 months.

We strongly believe that the skills and knowledge gained by attending the Conference will contribute to the development of a more harmonious industrial relations environment in the workplace and for this reason, we urge all ASU Delegates to attend. As you will see from the agenda, there is also opportunity on the day for you to raise and discuss issues of interest or concern.

Our main focus will be on the emerging industrial relations landscape, including the gradual replacement of Workchoices, the Federal Labor Government’s Act introduced in March, Award Modernisation and how it affects your industry and the introduction of the new minimum National Employment Standards (NES). Also, senior Victorian Minister Theo Theophanous will address us on industry policy, industrial relations and climate change and how this impacts on industries such as energy, water and transport, etc.

The Conference is a training day authorised by the Trade Union Training Authority Inc. (TUTA).

Attached is a release form for your employer so that your time release can be organised if necessary. It would be appreciated if you could pass this on to your supervisor promptly so that the appropriate notice for TUTA leave is given. Also attached is a ‘return-by-fax-RSVP’.

Please return BOTH forms (Employer Release and RSVP) as soon as possible to confirm your place at the Conference. These must be received by Friday, August 15, 2008.

Any country delegates requiring overnight accommodation should contact Carol Hough on (03) 9342 3462.

If you have any queries regarding the above, or require further information, please contact
